Welcome!

The story starts here. At the end of each section simply click on "to next section" to continue reading.

A year in the making, this story started out more or less as a dare. Perhaps a "rise to a challenge" is a better term. Originally meant to be just a short story, it eventually developed into something bigger. For me it was an exercise in creativity to see if I could develop interesting characters and a create a story with a little substance--something more than just a sexual fantasy. Fan fiction just ended up being the genre in which I decided to test the waters, I guess.

Regardless of how it happened, a lot of terrific people came along for the ride, some just because they are fans of the man and the band, but others because they actually started to care for the characters and the story. Thanks to everyone who shared feedback and thoughts. You made it a fun experience.

The "soundtrack" to the story is available
here.

An archive is available at the right of the page, but it is a little weird to navigate. To read any chapter: Click on the ARROWS to get drop-down menus. If you click on the month, you'll get all posts for that month in descending order; kind of hard to read. Same thing if you click on the year--you get ALL posts for the year, in descending order. If you click on the arrow first, then on the specific chapter, you'll get a single page.

Hey,

I was pointed to this fic by a friend of mine...I'm only to chapter 3 but I'm very impressed by your writing. It's hard to find good Jovi fic, even harder to find good Jovi het.

This might look like a shameless plug, but it's not, really. I wanna invite you to take a look at RockFic.com. It's a rock fiction site, and I think your writing would fit in well. We definitely need more Jovi writers - I'm the only regularly posting Jovi author, although I can usually persuade other people to take a crack at Bon Jovi for me - particularly talented Jovi authors, like you are.

It's a pay site (reasonable, though - $2/year), but we're currently offering a 48-hour free trial so you can look around and see if you like it before committing your two bucks. Plus, membership to the message board is free so you can get a god look at the community before joining.

If you do join, look me up. I'm Hector_Rashbaum over there.

And now I'll go back to reading :D

(I hope it doesn't look like I complimented you just to plug the site.)

I want to say that I enjoyed the story tremendously. I heard how good it was before hand, that it had quite a few people in a tizzy so to speak. But I didn't expect it to be so compelling. In the beginning it actually made me gasp with pleasure and was so intense I had to take breaks from it. Once I got towards the end it saddened me. If I was in Jordan's shoes I wouldn't be so much into taking the high road, I would have gone for his offer. But that's the thing you feel like you know the characters, and sometimes I forget he didn't actually go through any of the stuff in the story, it isn't real, even though it seems like it is.

So anyway thanks for an AWESEOME book. I really believe you should try to get it published, if that's at all possible. I know it would sell!

Sequel... Sequel... Sequel... if you start writing now we can all have something special to enjoy once the colder weather rolls around again LOL. Seriously, loved the story. I read bits and pieces each week, it became a part of my routine each Monday (a girl must have something good happen to her on a Monday)! Looking forward to rereading it again, enjoying the characters and the strength of Jordan through this journey.

Another BJ fan turned me on to the book and I read it in 3 days. I could not get it out of my head until I was done. Brings new meanings to some of the songs now! what a great writer you are, we are so lucky that you have shared this with us. Jon really is an amazing man and it was nice to get a peek at that side of him. (even though it was not real)

I was also pointed to this book by another BJ fan and I am so glad I read it. It was sure hard to get out of my head, I had to read the book in 3 days off and on. It is so amazingly written, love how it is from both sides, Jon and Jordan. Brings new meaning for me to some of his songs, some visuals too! You should be very proud of your work. It would be amazing if Jon read it, wonder what he would think? Take care and good luck in the future. Thanks for sharing.

That was a really amazing story. I think it took me about 4 days to read it I just couldn't get enough. I hope you do another as I am sure everyone who read this is thinking the same thing. Excellent storytelling if that is what it really is??????? Thanks again LOVED IT ;)

Hi Just wondering if you will be writing a new story or if you have anything else on the internet that you have written. You are very enjoyable to read.

So, usually I'm not at all into reading mature containing stuff... Who knows what kept me going in the beginning... ;-)
WOW is all I've got to say... It kept me sitting here till late at night screwing up the class tests the next morning... ;-) and more than once I found my thoughts wandering of to Jordan and Jon... Yeah, till today there are moments when I just have to smile because a scene crosses my mind...
I absolutely love how the different songs add to the story, makes it something really special! And of course, gives new meanings to the lyrics.
The ending is most amazing. I had kept thinking how you could ever find a way to get them out of that but then I found myself choked up fighting back tears...
'Open All Night' is such a great songs and I've really started to like James Blunt which has its beginning in 'Goodbye my Lover'... :-)
Thanks for sharing you did an amazing job! The characters are so detailed and you really do sympathize with them...

That was a great read. I read 9 chapters last night but just got too tired. I started again this morning at 7:00 a.m. and read on and off all day (I had to take breaks to eat). I just couldn't stop. It was a real "page-turner" so to speak. I hope you plan on writing more. WOW!!

I read this through in less than two days..(with four kids, a hubby and a job, that's a miracle!) and I loved the story...but HATED the ending! Jordan ends with with lousy boyfriends of the century, Rob? Come on!!! Okay, fine, she didn't share with Jon her news...and she even goes so far as to run into Richie down the road...but to have her end up with Rob???? I LOVED the story you weaved her...the characters were so very much alive....and I could handle Jordan's need to remove herself from her very sticky situation.....but why not have her ride off into the sunset as a happy and fulfilled single mom? (Thereby leaving the potential for Jon to blow through town again on another tour???)

Just some thoughts!

I don't think there will ever be another story this good. Simply because I think this story is true!!!!

The passion, the scenery, the 'first hand' experience, the intimacy, the knowledge of their inner circle are all too familiar to be just someones imagination.

Mark my words there is a little Francesca running around in someones sitting room.

Anyway, well done. It was an absolutely outstanding read.

Hey there,

I really was addicted to this story...It put me Jordon's shoes... It also put me into her realm of Jon. I am so happy that I have read this story... The ending shocked me...It couldn't have been over. But I still loved it...It would be great if there could be a sequal to The Layover. I wish I can write like you. Thank You for sharing...

Hi, I know I am very late to the party but I found this a few months ago and have since read it twice.
I am a big Bonjovi fan (Jon in particular) and just loved your story. Also it is very close to my life at the moment, minus the rock star part. Anyway long story short, you are a really talented writer and I would love to know if you ever wrote a sequel?
